Perunthottam - a place studded with green fields, big lakes is very near to the famous seashore 'Poompuhar'. I visited Perunthottam recently and the warm welcome made me feel at home. It was refreshing to walk along green fields and to gaze at pump sets pumping out gallons of water every second. The temple can be seen from the main road, Lord Lakshminarayana Perumal is facing the east and blessing the devotees. There is a perfect blend of Saivites and Vaishnavites as both Lord Lakshminarayana perumal and Lord Shiva bless the devotees. Lord continues to shower his blessings on the family members of of Shri Sundaresa Iyer who built this temple 60 years ago. If you happen to go from Poompuhar towards Sirkazhi/Mayiladuthruai , stop at this village and enjoy the calm/serene atmosphere. The lake must be full with water once its blessed by the monsoons.
